What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the natural beauty and the historical significance of the Ponte a Buriano bridge, often highlighting the abundant birdlife, especially nesting storks. The peaceful atmosphere, particularly on weekdays, is a major draw. However, some find certain walking paths less appealing due to paved sections and note occasional noise from a nearby shooting range.
"A beautiful area with several lovely walks. Be careful which one you choose, as some have a longer section on paved roads, which is less pleasant."
Peter Steen
"We went from Pieve a Maiano, even though it was Sunday there wasn't even a single human being, what a beauty, pleasant to walk through the bush. Even more than the Arno we really appreciated the meadows and saw a bird of prey flying majestically, a shame only for the annoying shots coming from the Laterina shooting range; this source of noise pollution is closed on Mondays, which I therefore suggest as the best day to be at peace in the Reserve."
Manuela Alessio
"At first glance it is not very striking, an expanse of reed thickets and semi-abandoned fields, between a river (Arno) and a canal (Canale della Chiana). A few patches of trees break up the flatness of the place a bit. But inside there is an ornithological treasure, a multitude of aquatic, migratory and resident birds, to drive you crazy, even without binoculars, if you have a little patience, you can see egrets, gurnards, white and gray herons, wild ducks and, above all, storks nesting among the reeds. You should experience at least once the thrill of seeing a couple going for a "walk" with their children!!!!"
