What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Peschiera del Garda ferry terminal for its convenience, especially for train travelers, and the friendly, efficient staff. The ferry service itself is highlighted as a great way to explore Lake Garda, offering good value and a pleasant experience, though some note minor issues with schedule accuracy and information display.
"This is an excellent jetty to start your exploration of Lake Garda. Especially so, if you're traveling via trains and lounging close to the train stations. Mainly Italian locals use the ferry service here. Website was not helpful buying tickets. I went there early in the morning right at their opening at 7:50 AM. Watch for display panel for deporting times. Schedule is not exact as the ferry lines tend to run behind toward the afternoon. Also docking platform is not displayed. So, pay attention and ask the sailors if you're boarding the correct numbered line to your destination!!"

"Took the whole day, the entire lake, trip and it was quite an experience. It cost 68 €, a "happy family" ticket with 2 kids for free aged 10 and 4. Exhausting but worth seeing the lake and all the nearby places, towns and villages. One boat in one way, with air conditioning and upper deck for sightseeing. Prices on the boat are not expensive at all, something I was expecting to be a reap-off...
The only thing they need to work on is how to present the information, i.e. working hours of the ticket store and boat numbers and information displays.
All in all, I highly recommend it"

"Helpful staff, easy to confirm which ferry to get and buy tickets. Timetables posted to provide additional information including a live departure board. Ferry departed on time. There is a small café bar but not always open. Limited options on the pier for shade from the sun and didn't notice any toilets but the boat does have everything. Paid parking available right beside the pier or larger free parking options within ten minutes walk."

Exploring Lake Garda by Ferry
Travelers often opt for a full-day ticket to circumnavigate the lake, a journey that, while potentially exhausting, is widely considered worth the effort for the sheer variety of scenery and experiences it offers. The ferries themselves are comfortable, with options for air-conditioned interiors and upper decks for optimal sightseeing. Prices on board are generally considered reasonable, contrary to some expectations of tourist-trap pricing.
Key advice for using the ferry service includes arriving early to confirm your boarding details, as docking platforms and schedules can sometimes be unclear or subject to slight delays, particularly in the afternoon. Staff are generally helpful and can guide you to the correct ferry. The experience is also noted as being very dog-friendly, adding to its appeal for many visitors.
Ticketing and Practicalities
When purchasing, pay close attention to the departure display panels. While ferries aim for punctuality, especially in the morning, schedules can become approximate as the day progresses. This means a degree of flexibility is beneficial. For families, the 'happy family' ticket option is frequently highlighted as a great value, covering a full day of exploration with children often included for free.
Practical considerations include limited shade at the docking platforms, so sun protection is advised. While the ferries are equipped with onboard facilities, restrooms at the immediate pier area might be scarce. The proximity to paid and free parking options also adds to the convenience for those arriving by car before embarking on their ferry journey.
