"We crashed a mass, so we went back later.
Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Lawrence build in 15th century. What is interesting about it is that the main doors are not facing the main square. Frescoes are beautifull, especially on ceiling. Inside u can find at the back of the church in front of an altair a relic. It is a Holy ring which is simbolizing marriage between Mary and Joseph."

The Sacred Santo Anello: A Pilgrim's Focus
For those wishing to experience this holy event and make a pilgrimage, the best times to visit are typically July and September, as these months often coincide with periods when the relic is more prominently exposed for veneration. This offers a unique opportunity for spiritual reflection and connection to a deeply revered religious artifact.
Artistic Treasures: Frescoes and Masterpieces
While the original of Perugino's 'Marriage of the Virgin,' painted for the chapel of the Holy Ring, is now housed in Caen, its historical connection to the cathedral remains profound. The altar it was commissioned for is a key part of the cathedral's history, stemming from a dispute over the relic's theft centuries ago. The Galleria Nazionale d'Umbria, located nearby, further complements the artistic experience, housing works by masters like Perugino and Fra Angelico, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the rich artistic heritage of Perugia.
Architectural Uniqueness and Visitor Experience
Despite this, the cathedral offers a welcome moment of peace and escape, particularly from the heat of the Italian sun. However, visitors should be aware that masses are regularly held, and it's possible to inadvertently 'crash' one, as one traveler recounted. Planning a visit during less busy times or being prepared to return later can ensure a more contemplative experience.
