What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise Grand Hotel Villa Igiea for its stunning historic setting, beautiful grounds, and excellent service, particularly in its restaurants. The food, especially at Florio, and the breakfast are frequently highlighted as exceptional. However, some visitors have noted that rooms facing the port can be affected by light and noise from docked ferries, and occasional construction in the port area has impacted the tranquility for some.
"The Villa Igiea was our closing hotel during our Sicilian adventure, and it was indeed the star at the top of the Christmas tree. With its lovely historic setting overlooking the port of Palermo, the hotel building itself is a gorgeous blend of times past, present, and even future as they work to improve their facilities. The staff were all so warm and welcoming. The service in all the restaurants and bars was perfect, particularly at our dinner at Florio. Amazing.
While the location makes it too far to walk to the theaters or the historic center, it is a welcome respite from the busy streets of Palermo. Thank you, Villa Igiea, for a delightful close to our vacation in Sicily."

"We’ve just returned from a beautiful stay at Villa Igiea to celebrate our honeymoon. The hotel itself is stunning — gorgeous grounds, lovely interiors, and great restaurants. Breakfast, in particular, was a real highlight! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and our room was really comfortable.
Overall, we had a very positive experience, but there are a couple of things worth mentioning. The hotel overlooks a working port on the right-hand side, where large ferries and ships are docked. These stay brightly lit through the night and can be noisy, unfortunately our room faced that way, so it did affect our sleep. It’s something we hadn’t expected, as it isn’t visible in any of the photos or videos of the hotel online.
During our stay, there was also ongoing construction in the port area — we were told it was related to creating a private beach for the hotel next year. For five days, there was constant drilling, engine noise, and shouting from workers, which made it hard to fully relax as it was directly below the pool and sun loungers area. Please see the videos I’ve uploaded.
It’s a beautiful hotel with lots to offer, and we did enjoy our time overall it’s just a shame about the noise and light disturbance, which impacted an otherwise special trip."

"My husband & I enjoyed an amazing invitation to Sicily by Villa Igea - our 1st stop on our honeymoon. The resort is SPECTACULAR in every way - the grounds are a showcase themselves, our room overlooking the Harbour where we enjoyed daily sunrise & sunset was dreamy, and the staff were so welcoming. They had the BIGGEST smiles and most healing hands at all moments. And the food - delicious!! The pasta was one of the best I have had! We also loved being able to swim in the lovely pool overlooking the water after a busy day sightseeing in Palermo. We do hope to return one day. Thank you Villa Igea for your wonderful hospitality!"
