"In low season, doesn’t matter if you going eastbound or westbound, the train arrives on platform 1. See the notice even though most people don’t seem to understand it.
There are very few seats at the station. So don’t show up early.
There is no ticket machine that I can see. The station is a bit dilapidated. You can easily pre-purchase e-tickets online with Trenitalia app. The train attendants DO check tickets."

"It doesnt even has a ticket machine nor a counter. It was busy with tourists who all were stressed about entering a train without a ticket.
The way to the train station has tiny sidewalks which are full of parked cars, agressive local drivers honk at you while you cant go anywhere, but there is enough space on the street to drive past safely, so no reason to honk if they were decent human beeings."

"People were buying tickets on the train at Fontane B and Avola, not sure why the line between Siracusa to and from Gela has a poor service, trains full and standing to Noto with no A/C. All trains so far in Sicily (6) have been on time, Palermo to Noto with stop offs over 3 weeks.
And you still need an FFP2 mask as of 12 June 2022 😷"
