A perfect Amalfi Coast day: walking the Sentiero dei Limoni from Maiori to Minori! (Path of the Lemons 🍋) Breathtaking ocean views, lemon groves, a cat sighting, and a refreshing limoncello spritz along the way — even with toddlers in tow, it was 100% worth it. Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking beauty and charm of the Amalfi Coast, with many highlighting exceptional private tours and knowledgeable guides who enhance the experience. The food and local culture are also frequently lauded. However, some find the crowds and challenging transportation, particularly driving, to be significant drawbacks.

"We spent the best day of our vacation last Saturday with Eugenio, the best tour guide in Italy.
Eugenio was so passionate about showing us the Amalfi coast. He is a walking encyclopedia of this breathtaking area. He was so funny and his laugh was contagious. He knew everyone in each town it seemed. We stopped at unique and hidden gems throughout the tour. He also reserved a table for lunch at a lovely restaurant in Ravello with a spectacular view. It was truly a beautiful and memorable day that will forever be etched in our minds. We could not have asked for a better guide. He was a very good driver and we felt very safe.
Thank you so much to Visit Amalfi Coast tours and Eugenio!

"My parents, my almost 10 year old niece and I used this company for a private tour from Naples to Positano, Sorrento, and Pompeii. Our day was absolutely exceptional with both our driver, Diego, and our Pompeii guide, Marcello, who the company set us up with! They were both awesome! They both really exceeded my expectations! All of us said how wonderful they were! Diego, our driver, was so friendly, funny, and accommodating, and really ensured we had the best day! He even went out and got us schviadel while we were in our Pompeii tour. Marcello, our Pompeii guide, did a phenomenal job showing us around Pompeii, and accommodated my mom who doesn’t get around as fast as the rest of us. He was definitely an expert in archeology and very passionate about his work. We really had an all around exceptional experience, from the owner, Mario, who checked in after our tour, to both Diego and Marcello. Do not hesitate to book this company and ask for Diego and Marcello!"

"Such an excellent tour! Mario really made this tour such a highlight of our entire Italian holiday. He has such a wealth of knowledge and is clearly very passionate about Napoli and Amalfi coast. I also have to commend Mario for being extremely caring and flexible with us when my wife felt car sick going out of his way many times to make sure she was feeling better and giving us time to rest. The luxury vehicle was well equipped and comfortable also. He even gave us a bag of goodies to remember the trip! Mario and this tour were absolutely genuinely amazing!"

Tailored advice for your travel style

The Amalfi Coast can be a magical experience for families, though it requires some planning. While the winding roads can be challenging, opting for ferry travel between towns is often more manageable with children than navigating by car.TikTok Amalfi town itself offers pedestrian-friendly areas, and the Paper Museum provides an engaging, hands-on activity that kids often enjoy. Navigating the Amalfi Coast: Roads, Ferries, and Buses

The Amalfi Coast's dramatic beauty is matched by its challenging transportation network. The Amalfitana SS163 road is the primary artery, a winding marvel that offers breathtaking views but can be a source of stress for drivers. Reddit users frequently discuss the difficulties of navigating this road, especially during peak season, citing narrow passages, limited parking, and the infamous 'alternating license plate' driving restrictions that limit access based on your plate number.Reddit Many advise against driving your own car if possible, especially if you're not accustomed to such roads.

For a more relaxed and often faster experience, ferries are a fantastic alternative. They connect major towns like Amalfi, Positano, and Salerno, offering stunning perspectives of the coastline from the water.TikTok TikTok creators often highlight the ease and scenic beauty of ferry travel. SITA buses are another option, providing a more budget-friendly way to hop between towns. However, they can become very crowded, and delays due to traffic are common, as noted by travelers.TikTok

Ultimately, the best way to see the Amalfi Coast often involves a combination of methods. Consider using ferries for inter-town travel and then exploring towns on foot. If you do opt for a car, be prepared for parking challenges and consider staying in a town with better parking facilities or using a private driver for day trips, as many positive reviews attest to the value of local guides and drivers.Reddit+1
