Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Madonna del Parto Museum for its perfectly presented masterpiece and informative multimedia content. While some note the museum's singular focus, most appreciate the dedicated and respectful atmosphere for viewing Piero della Francesca's iconic fresco. It's a highly recommended stop for art lovers.

"If you really really want to see the Madonna del Parto then you have to come here. You won't find it anyway else because it's a beautiful fresco that is retained here.

On the other hand apart from a short video there's nothing else going on at the museum. So you're certainly not going to be here all day and there's nothing else nearby."

"It’s a beautiful one masterpiece museum!
The artwork is perfectly exposed so that you can truly appreciate it. And there’s a very good souvenir shop on top!"

Serafima Kokhanovskaya

"The Museum was renewed recently in a very effective way. The main attraction is, of course, the room with the masterpiece by Piero della Francesca, where the lights are positioned perfectly. There are also two new rooms with a brilliant “theater-like” video that introduces Monterchi, the fresco and the painter. Very well done and strongly recommended."

Piero della Francesca: A Renaissance Genius

Piero della Francesca (c. 1415 – 1492) was an Italian painter and mathematician, considered one of the most important figures of the Early Renaissance. His work is characterized by its serene beauty, geometric clarity, and a profound understanding of light and perspective. He was not only a painter but also a scholar, writing treatises on perspective and arithmetic, which deeply influenced his artistic approach.

His paintings, like the 'Madonna del Parto,' are known for their monumental figures, calm compositions, and a sense of timelessness. Piero's style bridges the gap between the naturalism of Masaccio and the more idealized forms of later Renaissance artists. His influence can be seen in the works of many subsequent painters, solidifying his legacy as a master of the era. Reddit
