Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the scenic beauty and historical significance of Mastio Federiciano and Colle della Rocca, offering beautiful views of the Euganean Hills. However, many express disappointment over limited access, frequent closures, and the lack of interior visits, suggesting a need for better maintenance and more organized public access.

"Beautiful visit to the Mastio Federiciano with the guys from the University of Padua who are excavating around the tower with interesting discoveries, it's a shame that there is no longer the staircase to visit the interior. The entire complex deserves more attention, more cleaning such as mowing the grass and more time to bring to light everything that is possible to organize even more meetings since there are only a few a year."

Tiziano Baldan

"Monselice is a Venetian city with a thousand-year history, whose identity is inextricably linked to its strategic position and the presence of its imposing Colle della Rocca, an extinct volcano that dominates the landscape. This geographical conformation has made Monselice a fundamental control point since ancient times, profoundly influencing its development and events."

Alberto Angeli Gogo#

"Today we finally managed (between emails and confirmation calls) to visit the Mastio Federiciano that stands majestically on the top of Colle della Rocca in Monselice in the province of Padua
.
Very often access is closed or can only be visited with a reservation. You go up a flight of steps and a short, gentle and pleasant climb. It dates back to 1239 by order of Emperor Frederick II and his representative Ezzelino da Romano
.
The result was an impregnable castle: the truncated pyramid base supports the inhabited part, about 20 meters high, and originally also a wooden top part, no longer present. The structure is still today part of a series of fortifications, the oldest parts of which date back to the 6th century and which developed on 5 circles of walls.
Inside there is also a small museum... Closed"
