What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Villaggio delle Meraviglie for its magical Christmas atmosphere and family-friendly attractions like ice skating and Santa's Grotto, all with free entry. However, some find the market lacks a wide variety of craft stalls and can become very crowded, especially on weekends, leading to queues.
"This was exactly what we looked for a Christmas experience for our young children. Got everything you want from a Christmas fair: Santa's grotto, ice-skating (2 connected tracks one indoor and one outdoor + a small square for younger children), got a few attractions, including a beautiful Christmas tree that turns around sitting in the Christmas ball, a quite fast going sleight attractions (not for the weak of stomach), bumper cars and a couple of others. Lots of food stalls and probably lots of other things we missed.
It's nice for it to be within the park and beside the natural history museum and the observatory so to combine fun and culture.
Entrance is free, prices of attractions are not out of range (ice-skating was €9 for adults and €7 for under 130cm - be ready for your child to be measure though, mine was just above 130cm and paid full price!).
Overall great though, will definitely come back every year moving forward. Be ready for it to be crowded and wait in line, especially for the grotto if you go on weekends and bank holidays."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Beyond the main attractions, the market offers a chance to enjoy festive treats and soak in the holiday spirit. Consider visiting on a weekday evening to avoid the largest crowds and ensure a more relaxed experience for everyone. The proximity to other attractions within Parco Indro Montanelli, like the Natural History Museum, also provides opportunities for a full day of family fun.
Budget Travelers
If you plan to partake in attractions, consider purchasing a ticket for just one or two key experiences, like ice skating, rather than trying to do everything. Packing your own snacks or opting for more affordable street food options can also help manage costs. Visiting on a weekday might also mean slightly lower prices for some attractions, though this isn't guaranteed.
Couples & Friends
Consider visiting in the evening when the market truly comes alive with lights, creating a more intimate and magical setting. Grab some street food to share and enjoy the festive energy. While the rides might not be the main draw, the overall ambiance makes it a worthwhile visit for a dose of Christmas cheer.
