Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Kronplatz for its modern, efficient ski lifts and wide, well-groomed slopes, making it ideal for beginners and families. The stunning summit views and the unique MMM Corones museum are also highlights. However, some find the resort overly commercialized and crowded during peak times, with parking fees adding to the overall cost.

"This is one of my absolute favourite ski resorts in Europe. Great verity of slopes for all levels of skiers and in all directions around the mountain so you can optimise for weather conditions like wind from a certain direction or sunny side in late afternoon. It can get busy in high season but everything runs like clockwork on really modern and well maintained ski lifts. I wish I could ski here every day."

"Well, I guess there’s plenty of people for whom this resort is great and fantastic but max I can give is 4stars. Why? It’s generally crowded, most of it is just one main mountain, not so big, not wild, very commercialized with lot of gondolas going from all directions. So you feel like in pretty industrialized place and not in real wild mountains. Happily there’s also smaller connected part of the resort which is nicer more natural etc where we spent half of the day. Ski runs of different difficulty but rather easy and midium. Length: longest (ried) is I think 6km, interesting rung, on main part of the mountain usually it’s 2-3km. Real km of the resort is something about 40-60km not 120km. You can ski everything in one day like we did. Parking paid at 7€ - bit pathetic given how much you need to pay for the skipass. All in all - not bad place, enough to have fun, fast gondolas, pretty safe, but also without real atmosphere, crowded, not so beautiful like Tre cime or Val gardena etc. Too expensive given all above"

The MMM Coronas museum is a beautiful building. Another good sample of Zaha Hadid and beautifully curated museum."

Kronplatz for Skiers: Beyond the Basics

Kronplatz is often lauded as a top-tier ski resort, particularly for its modern infrastructure and well-maintained slopes. The resort boasts an impressive network of high-speed, enclosed gondolas, ensuring comfort even in adverse weather conditions and making it a favorite for families with young children. Reddit While many slopes are wide and gentle, catering excellently to beginners and intermediates, experienced skiers can still find enjoyable runs, especially on the longer pistes like the Ried. The mountain's unique circular layout allows skiers to traverse in all directions, offering opportunities to optimize for sun exposure or avoid wind throughout the day. Reddit

However, some visitors note that the resort can feel highly commercialized and perhaps less 'wild' or atmospheric compared to other Dolomite areas. The focus on efficiency and accessibility means it can get quite busy, leading to a feeling of being in an 'industrialized place' for some. Reddit Despite this, the sheer number of lifts and the efficient operation mean that queues, while present, are generally managed well. For those seeking a reliable, comfortable, and accessible ski experience, Kronplatz is a strong contender, especially if you value modern amenities and a wide range of beginner-friendly terrain. The stark, minimalist design of the museum contrasts beautifully with the rugged natural landscape, creating a contemplative space. Reddit It's a must-visit for architecture enthusiasts and anyone interested in the history and spirit of alpinism, offering a different perspective on the majestic Dolomites. Reddit
