What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Il Lago delle Sorgenti Spa offers a mixed experience, with many praising the relaxing thermal waters and steam room, while others find it overpriced and lacking in quality amenities. Concerns about buffet food and security in changing rooms have also been raised.
"I went to this place with my wife to relax, in winter. Its really nice to enjoy and relax in different water temperature and relaxing your body. Need to be careful with your things as people tend to mix the bathrobe a lot of times as they are all white. The only disappointing thing will be their buffet, which was really bad, the juices were from boxes which are with sugar, and some other stuff which i think is not right, there were cereals but no milk. and the buffet got close almost 40 min before its end time we that we were told. In overall is a good place to go and the city is small and beautiful."

"TOO EXPENSIVE AND AN UNDERWHELMING EXPERIENCE
The entry costs 50 euros per person.
We visited on a cooler and rainy day in June . The building is actually attached to what looks like a derelict hotel. The quality of the interior fittings are variable. The buffet seating area is comfortable but the outside sitting areas are basically concrete overlooking concrete.
We started with the healthy buffet which consisted of olives, dried up pieces of carrot, fennel and lettuce along with a whole table of small jam pots and lots of rice cakes in cellophane. Fruit juice or green tea to drink.
We looked for comfortable loungers so that we could relax and read but failed to find any that we could tolerate for more than 5 minutes.
The baths were mildly pleasant, but underwhelming. The hydropool had only about 6 not very powerful jets. The outdoor thermal pool was so slippy that it was only possible to walk while holding tightly to a metal rail.
We'd hoped for a few hours relaxation but were bored after 90 minutes.
We have been to German spas costing one third of the priced that were superior in every way."

"Classic splendor, serene comfort, reasonably priced at 27.50 for 2 hours. The best pool is outside, but don't miss trancing out in the steam room."

Understanding the Value Proposition
Key considerations include the price point, which can be around €50 per person, and the potential for a less-than-stellar buffet experience. The spa's buffet has been described as disappointing, with issues like sugary juices and a lack of basic items like milk for cereal. This suggests that planning to dine elsewhere might be a wise strategy to enhance your overall satisfaction. The building's appearance, described as attached to a derelict hotel, might also impact the overall aesthetic impression for some guests.
Navigating the Spa Facilities
Comfort in relaxation areas is another point of contention. Some guests have struggled to find loungers that are comfortable for extended periods. This, combined with the potentially underwhelming hydropool, has led some visitors to feel bored after a relatively short time, suggesting that the spa might be better suited for shorter, focused relaxation sessions rather than an all-day affair. It's also worth noting that while bathrobes are provided, they are all white and can easily be mixed up, so keeping track of your belongings is important.
Safety and Security Concerns
Beyond theft, physical safety is also a consideration. As mentioned, the outdoor thermal pool area can be very slippery. Visitors are advised to exercise extreme caution when walking in these areas and to utilize the provided handrails. The overall impression of the facility's upkeep, with mentions of a derelict hotel attached, might also contribute to a general sense of caution regarding the environment.
