Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta Carignano for its stunning, monumental architecture and unique, unadorned white interior, which sets it apart from other Italian churches. The spectacular pipe organ is a frequently mentioned highlight. Some note its location is slightly off the typical tourist path, making it a hidden gem.

"It's easy to miss this church which is surrounded by modern buildings and in a part of Genoa not regularly visited by tourists. It's unusual for a catholic church because there are no frescoes and the walls are unadorned white that looks almost austere after the riot of colour usually found in such places. The architectural detail is however very good and more than reminiscent of Wren's London churches which it pre-dates by only a few decades.
The pipe organ perched high on a wall is spectacular and like no other I have seen outside of northern Europe."
