"I stopped by to have an ice cream on the way back from a beautiful hike. The staff were friendly and the location can't be beaten."

"Unfortunently I had a bad incident 2 weeks ago with this refugio which has really played into my rating. When I went to check into the refugio the dog in the lobby immediately attacked me when I opened the door. I was wearing 2 layers of pants and it tore through the first layer of my pants and left me with a large bruise on by backside. I was really flustered when the front desk person came through the door after hearing me scream. He didnt apologize after hearing the commotion and gave the impression I was not welcome here, which I was really taken aback. I should have brought up that the dog bit me very badly immediently but his reaction to me made me uncomfortable. I also did not bring it up after in person as this location is isolated and me and my friend were the only guests staying that night. Yes, there was a small sign beside the door (picture below) that I noticed after the fact warning that there is a dog, but its so small and it does not state that the dog is aggressive. If I had only one layer of pants on or shorts it would have broken skin or worse. I understand having a guard dog, but to have a dog that immediately attacks in a place that hosts guests is unsafe and dangerous. Either lock that entrance or have the dog on a leash, someone will and has gotten seriously hurt over this."
