What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Museo del Risorgimento e dell'Età Contemporanea Faenza for its free admission, rich historical content, and the beautiful setting of Palazzo Laderchi. The recent redesign enhances the visitor experience, and the WWII exhibition, with its evocative model, is a particular highlight. Some feel the museum has great potential and could be further promoted, especially for educational purposes.
"Among Faenza's many surprises. A place where you can peacefully learn a bit about the history of your city and the events and figures that shaped it during the Risorgimento.
There are also sections dedicated to the period of colonial Italy, which featured a Faenza native among its protagonists (Captain Carchidio), and to the Great War (1915-18).
A visit is even more interesting, given the immediate impact it offers, after reading the recently released book "The Wars of the Faentini" by Albonetti, Randi, and Gamberini.
One of the rooms is currently occupied by a temporary exhibition dedicated to the Second World War, specifically the bombings of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1943 and Faenza in 1944—a parallel that is perhaps a bit extreme, but interesting nonetheless. The model reconstructing the bombing of Leningrad is extremely evocative and effective."
LORENZHOLLERN
"The splendid halls of Palazzo Laderchi house this fascinating museum, rich in often difficult-to-see relics, paintings, and documents, especially those relating to our Risorgimento, to which the people of Faenza made a significant contribution. It recently underwent a redesign, allowing for a better appreciation of the exhibits, many of which were brought out of municipal storage and restored. Free admission. Highly recommended for history buffs or those just curious."
Stefano Cozzi
"Free admission, but donations can be made to the association for maintenance.
A well-maintained museum in an elegant setting, created by the palazzo where each room still retains its frescoed ceiling. Behind each door, you'll find a different theme, well-represented and explained. Even the conference hall has retained its original decor, offering views of the main square."
