"The spontaneous welcome we received during our unannounced visit was heartwarming. Manager Christina gave us a fascinating tour that introduced us to the life and work of the Galimberti family. The mother was an intellectual, spoke several languages, and worked as a translator. Together with her husband and son, they amassed a unique library of over 20,000 works. The father was Minister of Posts and Telegraphs. The son, Duccio, was an anti-fascist. In the midst of World War II, he delivered an anti-fascist speech from the balcony of his parents' house. This speech ultimately cost him his life on December 3, 1944."

The Galimberti Family: A Legacy of Intellect and Activism
Central to the museum's narrative is the story of their son, Duccio Galimberti. A lawyer by profession, Duccio became a prominent anti-fascist figure. His courageous speech from the balcony of his parents' home in 1944, a bold act of defiance against the Fascist regime, ultimately led to his tragic death. The museum preserves the memory of his sacrifice and his role in igniting the Italian Resistance movement, offering visitors a poignant glimpse into a pivotal moment in Italian history.
Visitors often remark on the atmosphere of the museum, which is described as being permeated with the spirit of the times and presented with respect for memory and culture. While the guided tour is a key component, it's the deep dive into this family's significant contributions and sacrifices that leaves a lasting impression.
Navigating the Visitor Experience
Some visitors have expressed that the tour follows a predetermined narrative, which can feel imposed rather than chosen. This structured approach means that opportunities to linger over specific artifacts or explore personal interests might be limited. For those who prefer a more self-directed exploration of historical sites, this aspect might be a consideration.
Additionally, a point of contention for some has been the post-tour procedure, which involves providing personal details and completing satisfaction questionnaires. While intended for feedback and administrative purposes, this has been perceived by some as intrusive. Despite these points, many still find the historical insights and the story of Duccio Galimberti to be compelling reasons to visit.
