What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests praise Palazzo Manganelli for its excellent central location in Catania and the exceptional service from most staff members, particularly Massimo. The historic palace setting and terrace breakfast are highlights. However, some find the entrance and parking challenging, and one review details a very negative experience with a specific evening receptionist.
"Very central location in lovely Catania. The hotel is actually a renovated palace building. The reception is on the 4th floor. The service by all staff was excellent, especially Massimo at the reception desk was so courteous and helpful. Nice breakfast in the terrace. Dog friendly hotel 🐶 Do reserve the parking, it is great to park right at the hotel, even with big cars/ vans. Highly recommend this place!"

"Not easy to find the entrance and there is very limited parking in the "palace" courtyard @ €14 a day, which you should book in advance. Public parking is scarce and expensive. Reception up on the 4th floor. A bit of a strange layout but pleasant enough. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. A good central location for the old city."

"Absolutely awful evening receptionist. On arrival was greeted well after waiting 7 minutes for him to arrive and allow entry. He then explained I needed to return the room key each time I vacated the building, ok! Was talking to a room, rather dated but clean but with a musky odour. 10 mins passed needed to use the lavatory, have flushed, I noted lots of water emanating from the ubend exit pipe. The dirty water covered the floor. In returned to the receptionist, waited 5 minutes for his reappearance, and explained the situation, and requested another room. He quickly became agitated and distant believe what I had told him! He then returned to the room with me , took a look at situation, and had the audacity to suggest the water was from the shower tray from the shower I had not taken, work that one out. He become mildly aggressive, didn’t want to listen to me at all, unbelievable he really didn’t believe me, continued to state it was my fault from the shower that I had not had. Work that one out if you can. I requested another room please, he stated certainly not. I was left in utter amazement at his behaviour, really didn’t want to engage with him any longer. He left, I had no choice either I leave late in the evening and look for another hotel, or suffer this disgusting situation. Felt I had no choice to do just that. I don’t even believe I should award one star, but you have too in order to write this report.. Don’t be fooled with the advertising either it odd not a Baroque hotel with all the glamour as in the tricky photos presented. It’s on the 4 floor of what once was a Baroque home to a wealthy family centuries ago. It’s in the back streets of a crumbling dirty street, but OSS close to the City centre, that’s the only thing that is correct in its advertising."
