What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Castello di Ama's stunning blend of world-class Chianti Classico wines, captivating art installations, and the picturesque Tuscan landscape. Many highlight the knowledgeable and friendly staff, particularly those with extensive experience. Some guests found the tours to be a bit too art-focused for their taste and noted it as one of the more expensive wine experiences, with a few suggesting certain wines could benefit from more aging.
"If you find yourself near Gaiole in Chianti you must take time to visit Castello di Ama. The 12th century hamlet the winery sits in is stunning and the art additions Lorenza has added are impressive and though provoking.
I believe their wine speaks for itself, truly amazing. The hospitality and welcoming environment cannot be undermined. Danielle was incredible not only as an exceptional individual but also his knowledge of the region, winery, and what makes Castello di Ama so special. Looking forward to my next visit!"

"Our guide through the winery today was Borjana and we had a wonderful experience. Winery on its own is an incredible place and with having Borjana as our guide and her 30 years experiance in the wine industry is just a win win situation. Strongly recommended visiting the winery and asking for her to take you around!"

"Out of the wine tasting tours we had, this was our least favorite. The tour of the vineyard itself lasted a little over an hour, and the tasting took place over the last 30 minutes. If you are into modern art/sculptures, you might enjoy the art pieces around the vineyard. However, it's not our cup of tea, and we stopped at least 5 different art pieces that included explanations of each one. It's a beautiful, large vineyard, but I felt it was half art gallery tour and half vineyard tour.
The wines themselves were ok, coming from a sommelier and casual wine drinker. 1-2 wines felt like they could have been aged more for a better taste. Our guide, however, was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was the most expensive wine tour we did that day."
