What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Palazzo Mazzetti a charming gem, especially appreciating its affordable entry and the engaging temporary exhibitions, often featuring local artists. While the permanent collection is considered decent, the Rococo-decorated rooms are a visual highlight. Some guests noted the lack of English translations for exhibit information and wished for better climate control.
"Went to see Escher, temporary exhibition closed months ago. Local artist exhibition was well worth it, I do not know how long it would last. The rest of the museum is pretty ordinary. However, €5 for entry makes it worth a visit."

"A wonderful gem to spend a few hrs in . There was an exhibition by the painter Carlo Carosso downstairs which is colourful and fun .
The interior is Richly decorated in some of the rooms in Roccoco designs very flamboyant Angels, gods and gold. In others it looks stripped back . My only point for improvement would be that the information for the artifacts be put into English. All were in Italian and I like to read and understand. Without using Google translate."

Opening hours can vary, especially with temporary exhibitions. It's best to check the official museum website or local listings before your visit. Many reviews suggest it's a good place for a few hours of exploration.

The Art Collections
Beyond the permanent displays, the museum frequently hosts temporary exhibitions. These have featured everything from the works of M.C. Escher to local artists like Carlo Carosso. These rotating exhibits are often highlighted by visitors as a major draw, adding a dynamic element to the museum experience and encouraging repeat visits to see what's new. The arrangement of these exhibitions is often praised for its elegance within the palace setting.
A key point for visitors is the language barrier, as most exhibit information is in Italian. While this doesn't detract from the visual appreciation of the art, using a translation app can significantly enhance the understanding and enjoyment of the pieces and their historical context.
Palace Architecture and Ambiance
However, the true visual spectacle lies in the Rococo-designed rooms. These spaces are described as richly decorated, featuring flamboyant angels, gods, and abundant gold accents. This opulent style creates a striking contrast with other areas of the palace and is a major point of admiration for many visitors, offering a luxurious and visually engaging environment.
A practical note for comfort is that some visitors have mentioned the lack of air conditioning. While the historical ambiance is a draw, this can impact the visitor experience during warmer months. Planning your visit for cooler parts of the day or year might be advisable.
