What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo as a beautiful and imposing historic building, a key feature of Ascoli Piceno's stunning Piazza del Popolo. Its travertine architecture is particularly admired, especially its gleam after rain. However, some reviewers note that a significant portion of the building is used for municipal offices, limiting public access to interiors and suggesting a need for greater tourist valorization.
"A historic building, the seat of the municipality of Ascoli Piceno, located in the center of Piazza del Popolo. Its façade features a beautiful portal, clock, and tower. After the entrance portal, a small cloister opens, revealing the various levels of the arched structure. Part of the building is open to visitors. In particular, the first floor hosted a very interesting pop art exhibition by Rene. From the windows, you can see the entire Piazza del Popolo in all its immense beauty. Making it more accessible to some of the upper floors would perhaps be the best thing."

"Palace completely made of travertine.
It overlooks the splendid Piazza del Popolo.
As soon as the sun comes out after the rain it shines.
Presence of an inscription to Pope Paul 3.
Inside the palace is the hall of reason where the city council meets."

"I gave 4 stars to this imposing building because although beautiful, the "filling" does not live up to the "shell"....very few open rooms (some are offices) so in my opinion little touristic valorization...."
