"Certain records of the Oratory date back to 1181, although it certainly existed before. Petrarch loved it, as he often went there to pray. It has a Romanesque layout with a single nave, exposed beams, and a gabled roof. Remodeled several times over the centuries, the Oratory was enlarged and frescoed in the 14th century. Remains from this period include several Madonnas and a foot of Saint Christopher. The apse was added in the 15th century. Inside, the 17th-century wooden altar is visible, with an altarpiece by Palma il Giovane depicting the Trinity and a leather antependium depicting the Risen Christ. At the sides of the altar are a painted stone statue of Saint Christopher and a painted wooden statue of Saint Lucy. Inside the church, several tombstones and a Roman holy water stoup are preserved. Also of note are a painting by Giovanni Battista Pellizzari and a large canvas from 1670 depicting the "City of Padua Paying Homage to a Martyred Bishop." The 12th-century bell tower was remodeled several times until 1928, when a restoration brought it back to its presumed original form, based on 17th-century prints."
