Indiana Silver
"A wonderful series of lakes easily accessible from the road, which itself winds its way up through picturesque villages for around 30 mins up from the main motorway.
The first lake, at around 1000m is adjacent to where you park, and the most popular with sunbathers and swimmers. A beautiful and accessible path leads up to around 1300m, where a dam forms the second lake, a wonderful place for a picnic, that you can buy in the hut at the beginning. You can also drive up to here, but it is a relatively short walk.
From the second lake, you can go in several directions to other lakes and longer climbs, and the views seemed to only get better as you go."

Exploring the Lakes and Trails
For the more adventurous, numerous trails branch out from the second lake, leading to even higher alpine lakes and challenging climbs. These routes offer increasingly spectacular views, making the journey as rewarding as the destination. In winter, the landscape transforms into a snowy wonderland, though traversing the higher passes requires specialized alpine equipment due to snow and ice.
From the Swiss side, the park offers a unique perspective with amazing views into Italy, and the Antrona Hut serves as a gateway for further exploration across the border. Whether you're seeking a relaxing day by the water or an invigorating hike, Lake Antrona provides a memorable natural escape.
Seasonal Considerations
During late spring and early autumn, the crowds thin out, offering a more serene experience. The foliage can be beautiful during these transitional seasons, and the cooler weather is pleasant for hiking. However, be aware that higher elevations may still have snow or ice, especially in early spring or late autumn.
Winter transforms Lake Antrona into a dramatic, snow-covered landscape. While beautiful, it presents significant challenges. Traversing the higher passes, like the face of the Jazzihorn, is often impossible without alpine equipment due to deep snow and icy conditions. The Antrona Hut remains a point of interest, and the Swiss side offers unique views, but visitors should be well-prepared for winter conditions.
