Reviews Summary

Reviews for Museo Statale Palazzo Taglieschi are mixed. While some praise the beautiful Renaissance artifacts and the charming town, others cite unwelcoming staff and a rigid guided tour system as significant drawbacks. The museum's collection is considered worthwhile by many, but the visitor experience can be polarizing.

"I have previously lived in Italy and have visited dozens of museums throughout the peninsula; this was by far the worst Italian museum experience I have ever had. Better artifacts can be viewed in any antique Italian church for free, and the cold, unwelcoming, and condescending staff seem to try their best to destroy whatever atmospheric charm this small, bush-league exhibition could possess. Museo di Palazzo Taglieschi is a thoroughly mediocre museum paired with a thoroughly unfriendly staff. Don’t waste your time or money."

"Well worth a visit..beautiful Renaissance artifacts and buildings to look at and marvel at the wonderful craftsmanship. Lovely town to wander around filled with narrow winding streets. Great places to eat and drink..full of character. Loved it. Recomend spending the day there. Check out some of the beautiful churhes too and see one of the most historic paintings of all.."

"This would be a nice museum, however the staff hovers over you as if waiting for you to break or touch something. Our family went through - my husband and four children ages 13 to 22. My 22 year old son ( an honors history major - who studied a year in Viterbo) was told he was not allowed to go ahead of us and had to stay with us. My son has been in museums all over Italy much larger and grander than this museum and was never treated this rudely. It was ridiculous. Hard to enjoy the art and history while someone looks over your shoulder and directs you to the next room. She even opened the door to let us exit."
