What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Lido delle Sirene are mixed. Some praise its stunning views, clear waters, and relaxing atmosphere, finding it a great value for a day by the sea. Others are put off by the rocky terrain, potential hazards like broken glass, and the cost of amenities, suggesting alternative beaches might be better.
"Visited this beach while staying at the adjacent Hotel Aurora. For hotel guests this beach was free after 14:30 or €40 for 2 sun beds for hotel guests before then. (I believe it’s more for non guests). Facilities seem ok, there was a cafe, showers, changing cubicles. The beach itself is tiny and very rocky, but what was maybe most concerning was the amount of broken glass all over the place. I had some beach shoes but I think the glass would make this a bit hazardous for anyone in bare feet or families with children. Overall, it’s convenient for the hotel, but not worth the trek from elsewhere in Amalfi."

"Heaps of negative comments but we couldn’t disagree more. €55 for two sun beds, an umbrella and use of the changing rooms/toilets for the entire day (which is the standard in Amalfi). Options to set up your own towel on the beach for €6 fee clearly written at the entrance in both Italian and English. Bar staff were friendly, fast wifi, beautiful cold drinks that are reasonably priced and a great quiet spot for a swim away from all the crowds in Amalfi. Couldn’t recommend enough."

"A truly enchanting seaside spot with crystal-clear waters, comfortable loungers, and attentive staff. The panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast are breathtaking, and the beach bar serves delicious refreshments. Absolutely perfect for a relaxing day by the sea."

Understanding Amalfi Coast Transportation
A more reliable and scenic alternative is the ferry service. Ferries connect major towns along the coast, offering faster travel times and avoiding the stress of packed buses. For Lido delle Sirene, taking a ferry to Amalfi town and then enjoying a short walk to the beach is a highly recommended approach.
When planning your journey, always factor in potential delays and have backup options. Consider purchasing ferry tickets in advance if possible, especially during busy periods, to ensure a smoother travel experience along this stunning coastline.
Beach Etiquette and Costs at Private Beaches
It's important to note that some visitors have expressed frustration when not allowed to use their own equipment even after paying an entrance fee. This underscores the importance of clarifying the beach's specific policies upon arrival. For hotel guests of adjacent properties, there might be preferential rates or access after a certain time.
While the costs might seem high, many find the amenities and the prime location justify the expense. However, it's always wise to be prepared for these charges and to inquire about all available options to make the most of your beach day.
The Unique Geology and Legends of the Coast
Adding to the allure is the nearby Grotta delle Sirene (Cave of the Sirens). This natural grotto is steeped in local legend, evoking images of mythical sirens that once inhabited these waters. Exploring or even just viewing this cave can add a layer of enchantment to your visit, connecting you to the rich folklore of the region.
While the rocky nature of the beach might require caution, especially for families with young children, it also means the waters are often exceptionally clear. The unique geological formations and the captivating legends make this stretch of the Amalfi Coast a truly memorable destination.
