"After three weeks of trying to reach the library by phone, having doubts about its opening, I finally received a response today, August 13th. I was happy to think it would be open to the public, but instead I was told it would be closed until the beginning of September for cleaning and tidying up. "You know, these jobs have to be done every now and then," I was told. Meanwhile, I'm wondering if such work could be done during public opening hours, assuming there aren't huge crowds thronging the library. And since three of the five opening days are half-days, could cleaning or tidying up be scheduled during those breaks, or does the extremely high workload imposed on the librarians require more rest periods than miners or workers at the Ilva steelworks in Taranto?"

"The only library in Altamura, a city of 70,000 inhabitants. It has limited seating and very limited hours (mornings 9:00-1:00 PM and two afternoons a week from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM). It should be open at least every afternoon and its opening hours should be extended (2:30 PM-8:00 PM). Furthermore, online searches often show the library is open when in reality it's closed for holidays; the website should be kept updated.
