"Mashallah I was surprised how clean this mosque was, nice location with a beautiful view off the beach.. god bless the peaple who keep maintenance of the mosque they sure make sure to keep up with it.. بارك الله فيكم"

abed salem

"A very beautiful mosque located next to the Old Jaffa Port. Unfortunately we haven't seen the inside of the temple, as being atheists we think it might be offensive for the believers - this mosque doesn't seem to be a touristic destination. You can sit on a bench in the park above the promenade, look at waves of the Mediterranean Sea and listen to the muezzin calling for the prayer. It gives the nice ambience."

Dating back to the Ottoman era, likely the 16th century, it stands as a testament to Jaffa's rich past and its connection to maritime trade and Islamic heritage. Its strategic location by the port suggests its importance to the seafaring community and merchants who frequented the area.

While the mosque's exterior is its most visible feature today, its historical context is crucial to understanding its place in Jaffa's urban fabric. The simple, yet enduring architecture, including its characteristic small stone tower, reflects the building styles of its time. For those interested in the historical layers of Jaffa, Al-Bahr Mosque offers a tangible link to centuries gone by, even if its interior access is limited for visitors. Reddit
