Reviews Summary

Reviews for the Gospel Trail are mixed, with many praising its spiritual significance and beautiful scenery, while others highlight challenges like inaccurate distances, poor trail marking, and the need for extensive preparation regarding water and navigation. Some travelers also noted unexpected issues like route changes and lack of services. Reddit+1

"Reading these experiences tells me that I should not go because it looks too dangerous and quite frankly the harsh conditions is extremely unappealing. I have no interest in visiting a war torn country who is intolerant to other people and their cultures- granted it is Nazareth I still don't want a man yelling at me telling me what not to do because I am a woman and that is extremely unappealing."

"Devine, hot , keep water with you..but overall experience was totally holy"

"First, the distances we were given were not accurate. We were told 14 km for the first day, but it was 14 miles. I believe our tour may have mixed up their units of measure. All of the days were most probably in miles not km.

If, like me, you are just barely able to meet that 10 mile requirement, plan accordingly (know where bus stops are, where you can take short cuts, and which days to skip if needed).

Speaking of planning, really know where your water points are and don't assume they will be present. Have a bail out plan. Know where the bus stops are, know where there are no options (after you leave Nazareth on day 1, there are no water points unless you stop at Tsippori, which we somehow missed completely. There are no busses and there are no taxi's). Know your body. Don't learn the hard way that you should be carrying 5 liters instead of three. I ran out of water halfway into the hike on day 1 (at 7 miles), carrying the recommended 3 liters. At this point, there were no water points, no taxi's, nothing. It was hot and things could have gone very badly had I been alone.

The places we stayed were all really nice (part of the Abraham Tours Jesus Trail package, which includes luggage transfer). My favorites were Kibbutz Lavi and Arbel Holiday Homes.

Be prepared for changing plans and improvising. The trail changes. On day 1, we had to scale a concrete wall to get off the road in Nazareth onto the dirt road we were supposed to follow. The whole time an Arab man was screaming no at me from his car. I guess ladies don't scale concrete walls.

The garbage on day 2, coming out of Cana is pretty bad. The new route out of Nazareth on day 1 wasn't bad.

On day 3, we couldn't reach Na'yab Shueb because they put up a fence (just follow the trail markers after horns of Hattin until you reach the road - the GPS is garbage and outdated here).

Overall, I loved this and I plan to do it again. Just expect the unexpected and carry toilet paper, blister bandaids, and way more water than you think you will need."
