"Visited on Tuesday evening with a booking. We entered and were standing around for a few minutes waiting to be seated. I asked the bar man if we could sit down, and he said to wait a minute to see where we seated. A lady with front of house staff eventually joined us and offered us a higher seat (we were booked into one of the lower ones) until 6:30pm, which we took although I misunderstood initially and thought our booking wasn't taken. Thankfully, that wasn't the case.
We ordered no later than 5:10pm, and the food arrived at 5.35pm. Our drinks were flat (Coke ans a ginger ale) so when the food arrived we asked for fresh ones. I ordered the Pasta Carbonara, which was printed as "Pasta Carbona" on the menu. My partner ordered a Vegan Curry, but had to request this. Thankfully, it was OK with the chef. It would be great if they offered this on the menu. We also ordered onion rings. The food was tasty, beautifully presented, and I brought the rest of my carbonara home.
While it was a lovely setting, there was an unpleasant odour in the air, which was hard to describe, kind of a musty, old smell. The table was sticky. The news was on the giant tv beside us, although it would have been nicer to have some music rather than Trump with our meal. It was quite busy when we left, so it seems to be a popular spot, which is great. The lady gave us a lovely goodbye, which was appreciated.
Overall, we would return, but it would be lovely to see the menu being updated, more vegan options offered, and perhaps some fresh air circulating. Many thanks to the staff at The Quays for their service."
