"Gorgeous spot for a walk. Very peaceful, lots of wildlife to spot, and there’s a fantastic cafe, The Mullichain Cafe, with picnic tables next to the river. There is also fishing and river canoeing, and wild swimming. There’s a forest trail or you can walk along the river.
Update to my review last year. I went to St Mullins on Sep 2, 2023 for a walk with my dogs. The pathway along the river is now covered in huge deep potholes. They were there last year but not so bad, but now it's really dangerous and I have no idea why Carlow County Council hasn't fixed them. I met a number of people walking and everyone was complaining about being splashed by passing cars and having to look down while you're walking instead of taking in the stunning scenery. Cars really shouldn't be driving on that path either! I'm not sure I'd go there again unless the pathway is maintained. An all-weather walking and cycling track would be brilliant. Such a missed opportunity for an amazing Greenway."

"Beautiful river walk along the Barrow towards Graiguenamanagh. Walkway surface varies and is not consistent, varying from gravel/loose chippings to grass depending on location.
Extremely relaxing and so picturesque. Local wildlife seem accustomed to human activity and the ducks particularly seem to have little fear. Plenty of fishing happening along the trail too. We didn’t venture too far and regretted not taking a picnic along. Perfect for immersing yourself in the tranquility of nature whilst kicking back and catching some zzzzZ.
Note: at beginning of trail you can find a small restaurant, a mobile sauna, canoe hire and plenty of parking."
