"We were there in February. If I planned the trip again, I would go from the falls to Molls to Kenmare, then spent more time in the National Forest area and skipped Sneem and Waterville. Then I would drive counter clockwise and do Skellig ring.

In the high season, I would do the ring including Sneem and Waterville.

Def see this place."

The Irish name for the location is Céim an Daimh, which translates to 'Gap of the Ox'. However, it became colloquially known as Moll's Gap due to a woman named Moll Kissane. Instagram

Moll Kissane was known to run a shebeen, an unlicensed public house, in the vicinity during the time the road was being built. Travelers and workers would frequent her establishment, and her presence became so notable that the gap eventually took on her name. This personal connection adds a layer of local history and character to the otherwise wild and natural landscape. Instagram+1
