I did learn a surprising thing that I had not previously known from my visit to the museum — namely, that Limerick once had a well-earned reputation for skilled lace-making. Limerick women apparently once excelled in that art, and Queen Victoria bought and sported their lace. There were samples of this fine lace in the museum, and they were very attractive, indeed."
