"I walk my dog early morning on kinnegar beach usually along the tide line. Plastic bag used when necessary taken home for disposal and not thrown into the long grass.
Not an atlantic surf beach such as Kerry, so sand is very clean with little litter that has floated in on the tide. Even after storms little torn adrift kelp and bladder wrack which further adds to cleanlinesss. Dangerous rock strewn area at each end attracting cut knees but little life in the rock pools. Depending on tides sea urchin shells, razor shells, cockle shells, periwincles and ancient oyster shells etc for kids to collect in their buckets.

Only for a few hours at the years largest spring tides is access possible to the longer stretch of beech to Rathmullan, unless a risky scramble over rocks is your thing.
No real direct access for cars onto the beach quads and tractors occasionally venture, height restricted access car park at rathmullan end. Short but badly rutted sandy access which pools water towards northern end with building rubble strewn parking area .
At northern end short concreted steep ramp which lures occasional tourist car onto soft sand which i have in the past, pulled free with my tractor. This is where a little fresh water stream enters the sea forming modt days especially after rain a further natural barrier to this end.
Faces north easterly but feels sheltered due to its curved nature. Looks directly at Buncrana on the eastern shore of the swilly,
Quiet most of year except for hot summer days, Bank holidays, Race horses occassionally given their cold salt water bath, but beech is really too short for the gallops used more often within the prescribed times on the Rathmullan stretch."
