"Visiting the Johnstown Castle Estate was a pleasure, interesting and educational. The estate contains the castle, a gift shop, coffee shop and a great agricultural museum. The museum contains some very interesting exhibits of Irish farming history, we only got to see the ground floor, so more to explore at another visit.
The castle visit is only by guided tour, and we had Ciaràn as our tour guide on the day. The castle has a wonderful history, the site dating back to the 1100's. Our tour guide really brought the history to life, describing the castle, the occupants and their lives and how the place became the castle we see today. We really enjoyed the tour and Ciaràn's interpretation and entertaining banter."

"What a lovely place, very interesting and plenty to see. When we went it was awful weather so we stayed inside. There was an event talking about bees, honey etc, it was very good and we learnt a lot. We explored around the castle and all the history of farming and lifestyle back in the day.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The little cafe was very good too.
This place is well worth a visit. Maybe next time we can explore the grounds too."
