"One of the best pubs in Dublin.
Guinness is too tier. One of the best, if not the best pints in the city. Ham and Cheese toastie was also great.
Always worth popping by."

"This is a great spot for a beer. Very much a when in Rome spot… The Guinness just tastes better in Ireland. Did not try the food. Filled with locals - had a beer with a woman in a business suit on my left and a guy holding up the bar on my right. All packed in and all drinking Guinness."

"Grogan’s has the best bartenders in Dublin. No question. We walked in on a Friday night and the place was absolutely packed, yet I barely made it two steps through the door before the bartender locked eyes with me and yelled “You okay?” while already reaching for a pint glass. That's elite service!
This is a true Irish pub in every sense. The bartenders are actual Irish locals who know exactly what they are doing and keep the place moving all while pouring a perfect pint of Guinness. And the best part is that even while they are absolutely busting their asses behind the bar, they still find a moment to chat, throw a joke your way and make you feel like you have been coming there for years. There is never an empty pint at Grogan’s.
The atmosphere is lively and exactly what you want from a Dublin pub on a busy night, without the touristy Temple Bar atmosphere.
If you want a place where the bartenders are faster than your thirst, Grogan’s is it."

The 'Grogan's Castle' Name: A Tale of Two Places
However, the name also has roots in a historical landmark in Taveta, Kenya. According to local accounts, a man named Grogan built a castle on a hill in Taveta in the 1930s for his love, Gertrude. He was a significant landowner, and areas like Chiromo and Kirinyaga Road in Nairobi are still referred to by his name. He also donated land for Gertrude's Children's Hospital.
While the Dublin pub is the focus for most visitors seeking a traditional Irish experience, understanding the Kenyan connection adds an interesting layer to the story behind the name 'Grogan's Castle'.
