Visitors consistently praise Clonalis House for its deeply informative and personal tours, often led by the O'Conor family themselves. The authentic experience of staying in a historic family home, coupled with exceptional hospitality and delicious home-cooked meals, leaves a lasting impression. While the 'no photos inside' rule is noted, most find the historical immersion and the beauty of the estate grounds to be the true highlights.
"Did a tour of the house and it was extremely informative. The house is still the family home of O'Conoe ancestors and is steeped in history with the guide providing excellent information. Well worth a visit. Opening hours are limited and visits must be booked online. No photos allowed inside which is reasonable as it is still very much a family home."

"This is a country house from the 1600s of historical relevance that’s been owned by the same family for generations, the O’Conor family, direct descendants of the High King of Ireland.
Clonalis House makes for a truly unique stay, as it’s not a hotel but an authentic Irish country house. You can choose to stay in the main house, or in separate cottages on the property grounds.
The family runs tours through the house and grounds, showing the most interesting artifacts and documents dating centuries.
They also cater their own food for guests and visitors."

"A group of 4 of us had an absolutely wonderful time at the Clonalis House. You can see from any photos that the mansion is very, very nice. It is fun to look around at the art and photos and books and architecture. You will feel like royalty in the spacious bedrooms. The grounds allow you to immerse yourself in nature to your heart's content.
Carol-Anne and Richard are such quality people and really make the stay superb... educated, respectful, worldly, reasonable. They truly listen to others while being authentic to themselves, as their own thoughts and opinions still clearly shine through; it's such a great balance that they now naturally possess after all of the experiences they have had. I surprised my friends with this stay, and Richard and Carol-Anne went above and beyond in accommodating them with a special touch, so I was/am even extra-impressed with them.
Drinks in the library and dinner in the large dining room were memorable with good conversation and food/drinks in beautiful surroundings. And that breakfast, oh that breakfast... with me being a breakfast person, I was as happy and satisfied as it is possible to be. Richard's cooking and offerings were outstanding.
The Clonalis House is a special place and I hope to stay there again in the future."
