Ancient history can be found everywhere in Ireland .. . . These are the Ballintaggart Ogham Stones, a collection of ogham stones forming a National Monument. The stones were carved in the 5th and 6th centuries AD and served as burial markers. I found it by accident as I was making drone shots of the Ballintaggart Racecourse with Dingle Bay in the background and saw these beautiful ancient stones. ...

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Ballintaggart Ogham Stones to be a tranquil and mystical spot, offering a genuine connection to Ireland's ancient past. While some find the stones less engaging than expected, many appreciate the rarity of seeing so many Ogham stones in one place and the beautiful views over Dingle Bay. The 'Beware of the Bull' sign is a recurring mention, though cattle are not always present.

"So cool to visit this tranquil, mystical spot well off the beaten track. Thankfully the bull was far down the hill."

Rolf Asphaug

"Do you want a real mythical, mystical Ireland experience? Take this detour. Park the car at the gate, cross the field (Beware Bull Sign there but you can cross just look first) and enter the stone wall enclosed space. There you will find the pot of gold of ancient Ireland; 9 original Ogham stones. Ogham is the first script in Ireland, unique to Ireland and to be found mostly in the south west of Ireland. They would have cut Ogham into wooden rods and passed messages in this way in the 6th-8th centuries. All Irish people know Ogham but some don’t realise the stones are still on the landscape and can be visited."
