This is where archaeologists discovered Neanderthal remains going back over 60,000 years, including a skeleton known as “Shanidar 1,” who lived despite major injuries—proof that even Neanderthals cared for each other. Just standing in that space, knowing how ancient it is and imagining early humans living, surviving, even burying their dead here... it gave me goosebumps.

"It was a 3 hours driving from Erbil to this place..
There's parking spot, but i didn't see a cafeteria there, so I advice you to take some cold liquids..
For going up to the cave, there's maybe about 700 steps easy steps but there's no fence I felt worried all the way up for my kids.
There's resting place for every end of the steps, the rest place has chairs and shadow but also no fence!!
Once we arrived to the cave, the view was wonderful, like you reach the moon..
The entrance is for free."
