What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Wayang Museum for its affordable entry and well-organized, fascinating collection of Indonesian puppets, offering a great glimpse into cultural heritage. While the immersive show is a highlight, some find it too short, and occasional reports of unfriendly staff detract slightly from the experience. The museum's renovation has been well-received, enhancing its appeal.
"Happened to go on a very busy weekend in Kota Tua. A bit crowded but the museum was still easy to navigate. Very well organized and displayed history of Indonesian puppetry. I was most interested in the traditional shadow puppets but learned there is a wide range of other styles of puppets. We very much enjoyed our time there. Highly recommend a visit and even more so if you combine it with a visit to the Makuthurama Pupoet Studio around the block to get a deeper appreciation and a more up-close and living history experience."

"A nice place for the young generation knows the traditional puppet of Indonesia. But at that moment there were many schools also for field trips the place was not too big for many people inside That made it a little bit uncomfortable feeling inside there.
If i can give advice , they should arrange the schedule more, so it would not be so crowded inside."

"We had a great experience overall. The museum had been thru a lot of changes; there are varied puppet collections with written description available, and the immersive show is free tho registration is needed at the ticketing booth.
If anything, the time for the immersive show was so short, so it felt rushed. And some of the staff was really unfriendly lol
Ticket was only 10.000 and the museum opens at 9.00-15.00(closed on Monday), their instagram is more updated on schedules."
