The Ubud Royal Palace, also known by its Indonesian name Puri Saren Agung, was an important building in the 1800s, when the top Balinese artists were flocking to Ubud to show off their skills. Don’t expect something huge and grand like Buckingham Palace. Reviews Summary

Ubud Palace is praised for its beautiful Balinese architecture and as a cultural hub, especially for its evening dance performances. While some find the daytime visit brief, others appreciate the free entry and historical significance. The performances are often described as magical, though some visitors note aggressive monkeys or overwhelming crowds at nearby attractions.

"Beautiful glimpse into Balinese royal culture! Ubud Palace is a lovely place to explore, especially if you enjoy traditional architecture and history. The intricate carvings and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect stop in the heart of Ubud. It’s also conveniently located near the market and cafes. If you have time, don’t miss the evening dance performances they’re magical!"

Chung Huỳnh Phát

"Ubud Palace is an interesting spot to check out if you’re already in the area, but honestly, there’s not a whole lot to do once you’re inside. It’s a beautiful structure with some nice traditional Balinese architecture, but the area open to the public is quite small.

🕕 Entry is free until 6 PM, which is nice. After 6 PM, they charge 100,000 IDR per person because there’s a traditional dance performance held in the courtyard. We didn’t attend the show — just didn’t have time — so I can’t comment on that part.

📸 It’s a decent place for a few photos and a quick look around, but don’t expect to spend more than 10–15 minutes there unless you’re coming specifically for the evening performance.

✅ Final Thoughts:

Nice to stop by if you’re already in Ubud center, but definitely not a must-see. If you’re short on time, you’re not missing much by skipping it — unless you’re into traditional dance shows."

"Ubud Palace is a lovely cultural stop right in the heart of Ubud. While the site itself isn’t huge, it holds a lot of historical and artistic significance. The architecture is beautiful – intricate carvings, traditional Balinese design, and ornate gates that make for some stunning photos. It gives you a glimpse into royal Balinese heritage, and there’s a certain calmness to the place despite its central location.

It’s worth popping in if you’re already exploring Ubud – it’s free to enter, and it doesn’t take long to walk around. If you can, try to catch one of the traditional dance performances held in the evenings. The setting makes it feel quite special, with the palace as a backdrop and the atmosphere enhanced by music and movement steeped in Balinese tradition.

It’s not an all-day destination, but it’s definitely worth a visit to appreciate Ubud’s cultural roots and architectural charm."
