"Nice view and quiet challenging trip you must try when you visit padang city"
Titim Gariana
"Hill located in southern Padang. Legend says that at this place, Siti Nurbaya was buried. She was a legend, based on a novel written by Marah Rusli. She was married to Datuk Maringgih, when she had an already boyfried, named Samsul Bahri.
The marital occurred because her father had a huge loan from Datuk Maringgih, an old man who was a lender, but he couldn't pay off the loan. Finally, Siti Nurbaya, her daughter, must marry Datuk Maringgih as a substitution of the default loan.
What a pity, she was, because she jumped from the hill, fell down to the stone along the beach, and died at once. Then, she was buried in the hill, so called Gunung Padang (Padang Hill), a place where she fell."

"I visited Bukit Siti Nurbaya with my family and we had a great time. The hill is easy to reach by car or motorbike, and there is a parking lot near the entrance. We paid Rp5.000 per person for the entrance fee, which is very cheap.
The climb to the top was not too hard, as there are stairs made of cement along the way. We also saw some historical relics from the Japanese occupation, such as bunkers and cannons. The tomb of Sitti Nurbaya was located behind some big rocks, and there was a sign explaining the legend of her love story with Syamsul Bahri.
The best part was the view from the park at the top of the hill. We could see the whole city of Padang, the Batang Arau river, and the blue sea. The park was well-maintained and had many trees and flowers. It was very relaxing and refreshing to sit on the benches and enjoy the breeze.
I recommend Bukit Siti Nurbaya to anyone who wants to experience a mix of nature, culture, and history in Padang. It is a perfect place for families, couples, or solo travelers. Just remember to bring some water and snacks, as there are no shops or restaurants on the hill."
