What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pasar Besar Malang is a vibrant, historic market offering incredible bargains and authentic local food. Visitors praise the low prices and the lively atmosphere, though some note the market's vastness can be confusing and certain areas, like the meat section, can be quite smelly. Renovation is suggested by some to improve the overall experience.
"well, every city must have traditional market located in the heart of the city itself, and in Malang it's called Pasar Besar. this traditional market sells almost everything, from food till furniture. what i like the most is the price, yes it's the lowest in town fellas. and the heritage for the building and it's surrounding also being a magnet to every traveller who comes to this city, or even to a colleger like me. everytime i go here, i always like to see the interaction between the customers and the sellers. it feels alive and different. just one message for everyone, don't bargain till the price drops really low, they also need money and maybe they only get 500 rupiah per piece of what they sell, be human enough before do the bargain :) if you can buy things from modern market, i know you can afford the traditional one. happy shopping!"

"Well worth a visit, local market with produce, food and sweets and a variety of vendors, also for non food items. Meat section is very smelly."

"The place which sells literally everything! You can get stuff even cheaper if you're good at bargaining (with javanese languange is a plus). It's good place for shopping, culinary seeking, even photo shooting. To find something can sometimes confusing since this place is so huge, so be more spesific what you're going to buy"
