What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pantai Baru is praised for its affordable and delicious seafood, scenic sunset views, and family-friendly atmosphere with ample facilities. Visitors appreciate the budget-friendly nature of the beach, including low entrance and parking fees. However, some find the black sand less appealing and note that strong waves make swimming unsafe. The occupation of shaded areas by vendors has also been a point of contention for some.
"A black sandy beach located around 1,5 hour drive from yogyakarta city centre. A crowded beach especially on the weekend, there are food stalls and small restaurants along the beach. Mainly they serve seafood and coconut. You can rent an atv to tour around the area. Honestly the places is a little but unorganized, the visitors are scattered across the beach. A nice place to getaway from city life for a little while."

"Really like this place. What we love the most: many entertainment (kite for sale, ATV to rent, etc), very affordable entrance fee (10k rupiah entrance fee per adult + 5k rupiah for parking fee), lots of food stalls, sandy & windy beach, friendly locals and sellers, lots of praying, parking, and toilet facilities. What we don't like: black colored sand, big waves (definitely cannot swim in it). Totally recommended place"

"Located in Ngentak, Poncosari, Srandakan District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Pantai Baru (lit. "New Beach") is a clean beach for family recreation and also offers educational ecotourism with the installation of alternative energy conversion devices (windmills and solar cell panels). With its rather high beach slope and big rolling waves, it's not so safe spot to play water, so be careful. The inner area is green and cool with pine trees, playgrounds, outbound spots, and food shops. Many toilets available for little money. Vast parking for motorbikes, cars and buses. Lodging is not available in the area or nearby. Local sea fishermen are active here with their motor boats."
