Reviews Summary
The Mandalika International Street Circuit offers a thrilling racing experience with a vibrant atmosphere during events, but visitors should be prepared for logistical challenges like separate ticket collection points and the intense heat. While some find the facilities and viewing areas underwhelming, the opportunity to experience a unique street circuit and potentially ride the track are significant draws for motorsport enthusiasts.
"This place is a joke. Had our prepaid tickets on our phones with the QR code & wouldn't let us in. Eventually found out, that we need to leave the circuit & ride 3km to a small set up area in a village to obtain the wristband & lanyard necessary to get in to the circuit & onlythen wouldthey let us in????
Why on earth is this not at the circuit?
Even the so called giant screens are that small & so far away, it shows the riders & bikes about the same size as your looking at - totally stupid.
We're in VIP & you have to look through a wire fence to see the racing. See photo & video.
Jasmine tea only, no coffee, just stupid little cakes & that's supposed to be VIP.
I also came from the UK for load of rubbish. Worst experience I've ever had at a MotoGP event. It's not exactly easy to get to either, it's a further 2hr flight just from Jakata to Mandalika. And Jakata is where they should do the racing again, not at this useless place........ like others have said, loads of police, treated like cattle, staff didn't know anything, weren't interested, oh! But it looks good on TV.
Don't visit save your time & cash - watch it on the TV.
The sooner it gets dropped here or moved to Jakata the better."

"What an amazing facility in Indonesia. In comparison to Australia, this place has it all. I love that it is free entry to smaller races
Which means more families can enjoy!"

"I visited the circuit to watch a practice race. The atmosphere was exciting, and it was fun to see the action up close. People in the podium were cheering for their teams and it added so much energy to the experience. Be prepared for the intense heat if you’re on the podium during the day, it can get extremely hot under the sun."

Frequently Asked Questions
🚇 🗺️ Getting There
Reaching the Mandalika International Street Circuit involves a multi-step journey. Typically, you'll fly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), which is about a 1-hour flight from Jakarta. From the airport, it's approximately a 30-45 minute drive to the circuit. For major events like MotoGP, shuttle services or taxis are usually available, but booking in advance is recommended.
During major events, transportation is generally available, but can be crowded and more expensive. On non-race days, options might be more limited, and you may need to arrange private transport or rely on local taxis.
The circuit boasts a huge parking space, which is convenient for visitors driving to the venue. However, during peak event times, navigating to and from parking can still be a challenge.
🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry
A common point of confusion is that prepaid tickets often require you to collect physical wristbands and lanyards from a separate location, sometimes a significant distance from the circuit itself. Always confirm the exact collection point and process beforehand to avoid issues.
Yes, various ticket types are usually available, ranging from general admission to VIP packages. For smaller races, entry can sometimes be free, making it accessible for families.
On non-race days, access is generally limited. You can often walk around the exterior and stand on the bleachers to view the track, but the circuit store and other facilities may be closed.
Availability of on-the-day tickets can vary greatly depending on the event's popularity. It's always best to purchase tickets in advance, especially for major international races like MotoGP, to guarantee entry.
🎫 🏎️ Onsite Experience
Race days at Mandalika are described as having an exciting and energetic atmosphere, with podium crowds cheering enthusiastically for their teams. The passion of the fans significantly adds to the experience.
Some visitors have noted that the giant screens can be small and distant, making it difficult to see the action clearly. This can detract from the viewing experience, especially for those not in premium seating.
VIP experiences have been described as underwhelming by some, with limited food options (e.g., only jasmine tea and small cakes) and viewing obstructed by wire fences.
For motorsport enthusiasts, there are sometimes opportunities to ride the track on rented motorcycles or even pay for passenger rides in racing cars. Go-karts are also available for rent.
While street circuits inherently present challenges, the Mandalika International Street Circuit is designed to international safety standards. Concerns about safety are usually related to specific incidents or track conditions during races, rather than the circuit itself being inherently dangerous.
🍽️ 🍽️ Food & Dining
Food availability can vary. During major events, there are usually concessions. However, on weekdays, food options might be scarce, and visitors are advised to be prepared for limited choices.
Information on bringing outside food and drinks is not widely available. It's advisable to check the specific event's regulations or be prepared to purchase food on-site.
📸 📸 Photography
For photographers, capturing the speed and drama of racing is key. Consider elevated positions for wider shots of the track and crowds, or areas closer to the action for dynamic close-ups. Be mindful of any restricted areas for media.
While you can take photos from VIP areas, some reviews mention viewing obstructions like wire fences, which might impact the quality of your shots.

Navigating the Mandalika Experience
Beyond the race days, the circuit presents a different face. On weekdays, the atmosphere is significantly subdued, with many facilities like the circuit store remaining closed. While you can still access the grandstands to view the track, the overall experience is much quieter. This makes it ideal for a brief look-see if you have time to kill, but not a primary destination for entertainment on these days.
For those seeking a more immersive experience, opportunities to get on the track itself, whether by renting motorcycles or taking passenger rides in cars, are sometimes available. These activities offer a rare chance to feel the thrill of this renowned street circuit firsthand. However, it's crucial to check availability and book in advance, as these experiences are not always guaranteed.
Understanding the 'Street Circuit' Aspect
Being a street circuit also means that access and infrastructure can be different. Unlike permanent facilities, the surrounding areas might be more integrated with local communities, leading to the unusual ticket collection points mentioned by visitors. This also means that on non-race days, the roads revert to their public function, and the circuit's 'race-ready' state is temporarily dismantled.
While the visual appeal of a street circuit is undeniable, with its integration into the landscape, it's important to manage expectations regarding amenities. Reviews have pointed out that even in VIP areas, viewing can be obstructed, and food options might be limited. This is a trade-off for the unique environment that a street circuit provides.
