Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Mandala Bhakti Museum to be an interesting and affordable dive into Indonesian military history, featuring a mix of historical artifacts and vibrant murals. While some exhibits are primarily in Indonesian and certain areas can be warm, the free entry and impressive visual displays make it a worthwhile stop for history buffs and casual explorers alike.

"Very interesting military museum, a lot of cool artifacts to see including small artillery. Mostly Indonesian only, but some in English and Japanese.
There's several sections: the life of Prince diponegoro; the five-day battle in Semarang; and the post-independence wars. Several small artillery on display.
Housed in a 1930s courthouse, later used by the Kenpetai. There's a monument to the five day war in the traffic circle out front.
Entry is 5,000 for all, including foreigners."

Josiah Wadsack

"A few rooms still keep their historical design, but most have been updated with new interiors and full-wall paintings.

There are some inconsistencies in the paintings: in one, Diponegoro's head covering is green during his arrest, but in the next, it's back to his usual white. The texts don't explain this.

There are also magical tools that aren't elaborated on. Oh, and you can even find an upside-down holy Quran.

The rooms with historical designs are filled with displays of war equipment.

Some areas are quite hot and dark, with flickering lights.

Very spacious parking lot, good view."

Raden

"A museum that exhibits collection about military operations in Indonesia. In the first several rooms, you will see rooms full of art (wall painting and diorama) about the history of Pangeran Diponegoro. Then, you will find things about equipments used by Indonesian Military and History about Military Operations carried out by the Army.

It has a plenty of parking lot and there are also restaurants in the neighborhood."
