We went at 📍Bali Pulina to taste the ☕️ Luwak coffee. The plantation is gorgeous and the staff very friendly, highly knowledgeable and respectful; it’s such a great place where they show you the Balinese production stages of coffee & how the spices are cultivated on the premises - and there is no entry fee. You can taste tea and coffee - all of which you pay for - and you can also buy their prod...

"Bali Pulina is a must-visit destination in Bali, offering a unique experience with free entry—only paying for the food and drinks you enjoy.
We visited the place in month of September.
The atmosphere is serene, surrounded by lush greenery, with an informative tour on the famous luwak coffee process. The staff explains the coffee-making process in detail, making it a great learning experience.

I tried their coffee and tea samplers, which were flavorful and well-balanced, paired perfectly with crispy banana fritters (pisang goreng) served with palm sugar in a bamboo dipping cup—a delightful treat. The location also boasts a beautiful pool at the bottom, providing a tranquil space to relax and take in the scenic views. With its combination of culture, nature, and great food, Bali Pulina is definitely worth the visit!"

"Nice place, not scamy or pushy with selling you coffee. The nice girl at the front took us for a short tour showing how the coffee beans are made. Then the cafe with the food and tasting samples.
All decently priced.
And there's a nice forest view while enjoying the food.
Would recommend"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Luwak Coffee Process: From Bean to Cup

Bali Pulina Coffee Plantation offers a fascinating glimpse into the production of Kopi Luwak, often called 'civet coffee'. The process begins with coffee cherries that are eaten by the Asian palm civet. The civets digest the outer pulp, and the beans pass through their digestive system, undergoing fermentation. These beans are then collected, thoroughly cleaned, dried, and roasted. This unique method is said to impart a smoother, less bitter flavor to the coffee. Visitors can see the civets (though ethically sourced and humane treatment is a point of discussion for many travelers) and learn about this intricate process firsthand. Reddit

During the tour, guides at Bali Pulina meticulously explain each step, from the cultivation of coffee plants and various spices to the collection and preparation of the luwak beans. This educational aspect is a significant draw for many visitors seeking an authentic cultural and culinary experience. The plantation showcases not only coffee but also other local produce like vanilla, cocoa, and a variety of teas, providing a comprehensive overview of Balinese agriculture. Reddit

While the Luwak coffee is the star, the plantation also emphasizes the quality and variety of other local beverages. The complimentary tasting session allows guests to sample numerous coffees and teas, helping them discover new favorites. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone, whether a coffee connoisseur or a tea lover, finds something to enjoy. The opportunity to purchase these products directly from the source makes for a memorable souvenir. TikTok

A Sensory Journey: Tastings and Culinary Delights

The tasting experience at Bali Pulina is a highlight for many, offering a chance to sample a wide array of local coffees and teas. Visitors are typically presented with a selection of small cups, allowing them to explore different flavor profiles. Popular choices include the rich vanilla coffee, the aromatic ginger tea, and the refreshing lemongrass tea. The mangosteen tea also receives high praise for its unique taste. Reddit

Beyond the beverages, the plantation offers delightful snacks to complement the tasting. The crispy banana fritters (pisang goreng), served warm with palm sugar for dipping, are a frequently recommended treat. These sweet accompaniments enhance the overall sensory experience, providing a perfect balance to the diverse drinks. The presentation, often in charming bamboo cups, adds to the authentic Balinese charm. Reddit

While the tasting is complimentary, visitors have the option to purchase their preferred coffees, teas, and snacks from the on-site shop. This allows them to take a piece of Bali's flavors home with them. The prices are generally considered reasonable, especially given the quality and the unique experience. Many reviewers note that the selling process is not pushy, allowing guests to browse and buy at their leisure. Reddit
