What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Ramlila at Ramnagar is a deeply rooted cultural spectacle, praised for its centuries-old legacy and unique city-wide staging. Visitors appreciate the free access and the festive atmosphere during Dussehra, complete with stalls and local flavor. However, some find the grounds themselves to be underutilized and lacking maintenance when not hosting the event, wishing for better upkeep and public amenities.
"Well, it's a surreal experience to witness something which is continuing from last 500 years."

"So many years of legacy having seen The world famous Ramlila maidan here, it could have been a much more lively page rather than a plain dirt field. It is regularly used to play gully cricket, train newbies bikes and cars. And sometimes used to store construction material. There was, a few years ago, a construction company besides the field (now ruins) and then the field was just full with huge mountains of stones and dirt. That's what it has been.
I really wish to see this field as a well-maintained park to go to, as it has enough area for some public exercise equipment, few raised stages (which can be used for Ramlila as well), and a pathway to do jogging on."
Shyam
"The ground area is pretty large and ram lila is staged here during dussehra. You will find multiple small stalls all across the field during ram lila mostly selling eatables and toys for children. There is also a goddess kali temple (mandir) next to the field on the opposite side of the road. The king of Ram Nagar also attends ram lila performed by various artists on the elephant."
