"Kaal Bhairav, also popularly known as the "Protector of Kashi" is a prominent temple in the city of Varanasi. Devotees must pay a visit to this temple before embarking on their trip to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, for a complete spiritual experience. During my maiden visit to this temple, I was absolutely surprised by its location. It's located inside one of the many narrow lanes of Old Kashi. The lanes leading to this temple are overcrowded, with several flower and souvenir shops lined up on both sides. I deposited my shoes in one of the shops, bought flowers and proceeded towards the temple's entrance. To my utter surprise, I was stunned to see the long queue of devotees and that too on a normal weekday. After waiting in the queue for around half an hour, I finally got the opportunity to enter the main gate of the temple. Devotees are not allowed to click photos or record videos inside the temple. The darshan was a quick one, because the temple volunteers won't allow anyone to wait in front of the main idol for more than 2 seconds. Also, the people behind you will continuously push you forward. Hence, for those seeking silent contemplation, peace or solitude, this place is NOT for them. It's definitely a highly energised and consecrated place, but unless you get a chance to sit there for sometime & soak in the energy, it serves no real purpose. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.😇🙏🏻"

"Also known as Batuk Bhairav Mandir is mostly attended together with Varanasi's Kashi Vishwanath temple by pilgrims. It's in the old city, a short distance from Kashi Vishwanath's main temple and the ghats. The belief is that this Shiva is supposed to protect the city's citizens, thus many locals and tourists come to seek blessings.

The temple is located in a tight alleyway, and when you enter the temple, you will hear chants and bell noises."
