"We have visited here mid 11am. Not crowded, no entrance fee. The temple is very beautiful, has peacocks, many trees but definitely older people would find it very difficult to walk since the temple is very large, has stairs to visit and pray. The temple is closed by 12.30pm.
Except for that, the temple is very old, good and they are reconstructing in few areas.
It would be better if they had drinking water facilities around."

"The history of the temple states that it is older than the neighbouring Srirangam temple in antiquity. It is located on the Trichy-Thuraiyur highway. The Lord, Pundarikaksha, or Senthamarai Kannan in Tamil, has a towering presence in the sanctum sanctorum, accompanied by His divine consorts. Anyone making a trip to Tiruchirappalli temples cannot afford to miss Thiruvellarai. And what to say about the peacocks? They are available in abundance, and form quite the sight within touching distance."

"The temple is built over an rock or hillock.....the layout somewhat resembles Kanchipuram varadharaja Perumal.......the sanctum sanctorum have perumal thayar etc.....this temple has a confusing layout in terms of direction specificity as we move across the praharams.....not much crowded and the priests were helpful........there were multiple beautiful fearless peacocks
Must have been an early lab for sculpting followed by this temple and it is a fort as it have granary , multiple lakes springs and must be an outpost site
