What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the State Botanical Garden for its serene atmosphere, diverse plant collection, and beautiful themed sections like the Bambusetum and Butterfly Garden. It's considered a peaceful escape and a great spot for nature lovers and photographers. Some minor drawbacks include potential waterlogging during heavy rains and the lack of internal transport options.
"I went here almost everyday (including weekends) during the period of my internship. For me the entry was absolutely free and I have covered most of the part inside the botanical garden on foot. My field work was about to complete when suddenly the front entry gate including the lake view road and the Kiakani lake side road got entirely submerged by water due to torrential rain in Raghunathpur area in the month of July.
Personally speaking, the Bambusetum is worth exploring and my favourite place to visit during the internship period because it has open space with a lot of greenery, artificial waterfall and lots of bamboo trees creating an ecosystem for birds and odonates alike.
Followed by this, Butterfly garden is my second most favourite garden. This garden harbours a lot of these beautiful winged creatures which comes in all different colours, shapes and sizes.
The Kiakani lake on one side offers an opportunity to witness different water birds and the same goes for the Kanjia lake.
There are many more gardens to explore and the garden is easily accessible by well managed road.
Personal vehicles (both two wheelers and four wheelers) are allowed inside the botanical garden unlike Nandankanan Zoological park where personal vehicles are not allowed inside the zoo. However, there is no provision for BOVs (Battery Operated Vehicles) inside the botanical garden unlike the Nandankanan zoo."

The orchid house, cactus garden, and medicinal plant section are particularly fascinating and showcase the region's rich biodiversity. Walking trails wind through beautifully landscaped areas, providing a peaceful environment for leisurely strolls or picnics.
One of the highlights is the butterfly garden, where you can spot colorful butterflies fluttering amidst the flowers. The garden's staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to provide information about the plant species.
Very peaceful place, enjoyable for people who love plants. They have variety of orchids, bonsai plants. You could hear the birds singing, have pleasant smell when you go around the gardens. 👍🥰"
