"Berthed there as part of our Indian cruise. The port is not really geared for cruise ships. Although it is on the cruise itinerary. It is a working port for coal and steel and containers so as such possibly not top of the list for a cruise ship. Very dirty and noisy. Took the shuttle bus into town which was the same as any town in any country in the world. The difference being the culture and people. It was interesting to see what is everyday life of the people in New Mangalore, as opposed to the tourist places you usually visit. In this respect it was worth going. Other than that I could have been in a number of towns in any industrial country..."

But I was under the impression that we could visit the port, by taking a per person pass of Rs 200. But on reaching there, they mentioned that after covid they have stopped making it available for public.
Well this info should have been there when I searched in google.
Was upset that we couldn’t visit it."
