What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kallar Meenmutty Waterfalls is a serene natural escape praised for its peaceful trek and beautiful cascades. Visitors love the immersive forest experience and the refreshing river spots, though some note the need for caution with water levels and the trek's stream crossings. It's a highly recommended spot for nature lovers seeking a less commercialized destination.
"Kallar Meenmutty Waterfalls is a scenic waterfall located in the Kallar forest region of the Thiruvananthapuram district in Kerala. Surrounded by dense, lush greenery, it is a popular picnic spot and is known for its pristine natural beauty.
A scenic retreat: The waterfall cascades from a height of approximately 300 feet, forming a natural pool at the bottom that is ideal for a refreshing dip.
Jungle trek: Reaching the main falls requires a moderate jungle trek. The walk is peaceful, with only the sounds of the water and nature audible.
Bathing spot: Bathing is allowed at certain sections of the river, especially at the starting point of the trek, where the water flow is not as strong.
Film shooting location: The area is a popular spot for filming movies.
Plastic-free zone: The local authorities have made efforts to keep the area clean, and visitors are required to take back all their plastic waste.
Timings: The falls are generally open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Best time to visit: The post-monsoon season, from October to March, is the ideal time to visit, as the weather is pleasant and the water flow is sufficient. The summer heat can make the visit less enjoyable. The waterfalls are at their fullest during and immediately after the monsoon season (June to November), but the rocks can be slippery and the water flow can be dangerous."

"The walk to the waterfall and back is magical. In the forest smack in the middle of nature. It's about 1 km then you reach the waterfall which is not the biggest or most impressive but still photos don't do it justice. It's much more beautiful than any pix you can see. Loved it 🧡
What they don't tell you at the gate, however, is that midway to the waterfall you have to pass through the river water. There's no bridge. So you might wanna consider your shoe choice or bring along a towel and a bag.
Overall, it was a great experience and got me back in touch with nature. 😎😍"

"Hidden gem, easy trail, helpful staff and so peaceful. You would be walking right next to the waterfall, rest under massive rocks, cross a stream of water. The waterfall is unpredictable with water known to rise at a moments notice, hence, be cautious if you are going to chill in the stream."
